Great food is not in short supply on Virgin Voyages, and if you love steak, you absolutely need to eat at The Wake. We’ve had the pleasure of dining here twice now, and let me tell you, we can’t get enough. If you’re on the hunt for a dining experience that’s as unforgettable as the ocean views, this seafood and steak haven is calling your name.

First off, let’s talk about the ambiance. Picture this: classy, unique décor that somehow manages to be both modern and timeless, with huge windows that frame the most gorgeous ocean views. It somehow manages to be shiny and shouty with ceilings covered in what looks like diamond balls and polished brass and copper everywhere you look. The white grand piano on show is like the cherry on top of a perfectly themed restaurant. Whether you’re seated for brunch or settling in for dinner, you’re sure to enjoy more than just the food.

Now, speaking of food. Food glorious food. This restaurant has rightfully earned its reputation for seafood and steak, and every dish I’ve had has been a flavor delight. When we came for brunch I started with an unknown… clam chowder. I’ve never been a huge fan of seafood but this was absolutely delicious. Lovely, subtle and creamy flavors were in every mouthful. Would 100% recommend it, even if you’re not a fishy fan. Then, because life is short we ordered a Wake Benedict, Hanger Steak and the Steak and Eggs. Yep, three mains, and nope, not even sorry. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with flavors so rich and satisfying that I didn’t have room for dessert. Regrets? Nope.

Booking for brunch was a breeze, but if you’re eyeing up the tea-time menu, you need to book well in advance. Whilst there are sometimes opportunities for walk-ins, it’s not certain. Although we got a tip from our waiter that the best time for walk-ins is between 18:30-19:30. We’ll let you know if it works out!

And whilst we’re on the subject, the staff absolutely deserve an honorable mention. Each time we’ve visited, they’ve been warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They make you feel like a VIP from the moment you walk in until you roll out, blissfully full of food and planning your next visit.

In short, this restaurant is the whole package. Incredible food, stunning views, and service that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re a seafood lover, a steak aficionado, or just someone who appreciates a truly great dining experience, this is one spot you’ll want to return to again and again.
